WASHINGTON (March 3)—Legislators in Massachusetts and Connecticut have introduced sweeping anti-latex bills in their states' general assemblies. Rep. Roger Brian Michele of Connecticut's 77th District has introduced two related bills, to prohibit the use of latex gloves or equipment containing latex in food preparation. In Massachusetts, Rep. Vincent A. Pedone (D-Worcester) has introduced two related bills to prohibit the use of latex gloves in health care facilities. These bills were introduced just before the March 1 effective date of Oregon's new law banning latex gloves in food service operations. Oregon announced the ban in August, the third state to do so after Arizona and Rhode Island.
