EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (Feb. 26)—Bridgestone/Firestone and Ford Motor Co. say they have heard nothing of a federal grand jury investigation of Ford/Firestone rollover accidents as reported by Bloomberg News. According to the Bloomberg story, Miriam F. Miquelon, a U.S. attorney in East St. Louis, has subpoenaed documents from plaintiffs' attorneys suing Bridgestone/Firestone and Ford in wrongful death and injury cases, including sworn statements from Bridgestone/Firestone CEO John Lampe and Ford officials. "We haven't been contacted on any level about this," a Bridgestone/Firestone spokesman said, adding that the company has been "forthright, honest and open" in all its depositions and court submissions. Miquelon could not be reached for comment.
