KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Jan. 31)—Eastman Chemical Co. will increase prices of its specialty plastics products March 1. The company attributed the price hikes, the first in more than two years, to increasing costs related to reinvestment in research and development, facilities, services and raw materials. Prices will rise 11 cents per pound for the firm's Ecdel elastomer, DuraStar and Eastalloy polymers, Eastar, Eastman, Embrace and Tsunami copolyesters, and Provista copolymer lines. Eastpak, Eastar and Eastman polyesters will cost 8 cents more per pound, and Eastobond copolyesters will rise 20 cents per pound.
