HOUSTON (Jan. 20)—AgriTec Systems Inc. plans to build a $3.2 million sodium silicate and activated carbon products plant in Stuttgart, Ark., in partnership with Producers Rice Mill Inc. of Stuttgart. Construction is slated to begin this month and be completed by the third quarter, the partners said. The venture, AgritecSorbents, will utilize AgriTec's patented technology for converting rice hull ash to liquid sodium silicate and activated carbon products. Sodium silicate is used in the production of rubber and plastic products, soap and detergents, AgriTec said. AgritecSorbents will convert 12,000 tons of rice hull ash from Producers Rice Mill into 25,000 tons of liquid sodium silicate and 5,000 tons of activated carbon annually.
