CLEARWATER, Fla. (Dec. 31)—Maxxim Medical Inc. has closed its Waltham, Mass., headquarters and returned to Clearwater, its former base, where it has offices and a production facility. The privately held medical products company had occupied the Waltham site for about a year. Maxxim officials did not say how many of the approximately jobs in Waltham will be affected. The company has been cutting costs since 2000-closing five U.S. facilities and another in the Netherlands during that span. Maxxim also sold its BioSafety Division and its Clarksburg, W.Va., factory to Medical Acton Industries Inc. in November for about $19.5 million.
