FINDLAY, Ohio (Dec. 18)—Patrick W. Rooney, 67, former chairman and CEO of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., died this morning at his home from complications related to a heart condition. During his 44-year career with Cooper, Rooney helped the company become one of the most profitable tire makers in the world and enter the original equipment automotive parts business through its acquisitions of Standard Products Co. and Siebe Automotive. He was named to the Tire Industry Association's Hall of Fame in 2000 and was an active member of the Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Tire Society before his retirement from Cooper in June 2000. Rooney is survived by his wife Sondra and their four children. Memorials can be made to the Patrick Rooney Scholarship Fund at the University of Findlay, 1000 N. Main St., Findlay, Ohio 45840.
