Guyson Corp. of U.S.A.'s Model SP-72 automatic tire mold cleaning system uses a gantry-type multiple-axis nozzle manipulator for processing segmented and two-piece molds. As the mold rotates at a preset speed, blast guns traverse in a repeatable, programmed sequence to remove dry residue. The unit's air-blast media delivery system can use glass beads, plastic grit, microscopic metallic shot or other blast materials suitable for mold cleaning, Guyson said. Media and dust collected by hoppers below the cleaning chamber are conveyed pneumatically through abrasion-resistant ductwork to a cyclone separator that removes dust and lightweight particles, feeding re-useable beads to the pressure vessel. A programmable logic controller stores and recalls dimensions and processing routines for up to 100 different molds with outside diameters of less than 65 inches, the firm said.
