HOUSTON (Dec. 16)—The U.S. Justice Department has requested from ExxonMobil Chemical Co. documents relating to its EPDM business in connection with a multicountry investigation into possible price collusion. The probe, involving officials from U.S., Canadian and the European Union competition authorities, came to light Dec. 12 when Crompton Corp., whose Uniroyal Chemical business produces EPDM, alerted authorities to the possible collusion. Since then, Bayer A.G. of Germany, DSM N.V. of the Netherlands and DuPont Dow Elastomers L.L.C. of the U.S. have confirmed they had been contacted by the various competition authorities. A spokeswoman for ExxonMobil, which produces EPDM at a plant in Baton Rouge, La., said the company will cooperate fully with governement authorities.
