The Multiflow valve from Guill Tool and Engineering Co. allows extruders to make three-layer or up to five-layer tubing products with fewer machines. In the three-layer design, material is fed into the extruder and divided inside the manifold to form both the inner and outer layers of the product, reducing costs, the firm said. The valve can change layer-wall thickness without shutting down the extruder and eliminates dead areas in the manifold that may lead to degradation of the material and contamination of the tubing, the company said.
