WASHINGTON (Dec. 2)—April 27-May 3, 2003, will be the Rubber Manufacturers Association's second annual National Tire Safety Week, according to the RMA. During the week, the association and about 100 tire dealer partners will campaign to remind drivers to check the air pressures in their tires at least once a month. Participating dealers will distribute tire safety information from the RMA. National Tire Safety Week is an offshoot of the "Be Tire Smart-Play Your PART" program the association launched in November 2000 in the aftermath of the 6.5-million-tire Firestone recall and the passage of the Transportation Recall Efficiency, Accountability and Documentation Act.
