WASHINGTON (Nov. 5)—Total U.S. tire shipments fell 5.6 percent in August from a year earlier to 30.7 million units for the months, according to data gathered by the Rubber Manufacturers Association. Canadian tire shipments grew 6.1 percent for the month, climbing to 3.3 million units, the Rubber Association of Canada reported. U.S. passenger tire shipments slipped 8.4 percent to 24.4 million units, while Canadian passenger tire deliveries climbed 6.7 percent to 2.82 million units for the month.
