CLEVELAND (Oct. 30)—Materials supplier Noveon Inc. has acquired "certain assets, technology and other intellectual property" of Gemoplast S.A., an independent compounder of thermoplastic polyurethane in Frontonas, France. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Acquiring the assets and compounding technology of Gemoplast will enable us to expand our TPU business and better serve customers by increasing our range of specialty products," Julian Steinberg, vice president and general manager of Noveon's TPU business, said in a prepared statement. Noveon supplies its Estane-branded TPU products for use in wire and cable coverings, fabric coatings, hoses and tubes, mass transit, film and sheet, adhesives and binders and molding applications. The company also makes Estaloc reinforced engineering thermoplastics, and EstaGrip thermoplastic elastomers, which are both based on TPU technology.
