TROY, Mich. (Oct. 22)—As of Jan. 1, Delphi Corp. will regroup its businesses on the basis of similar product, market and operating factors. The new divisions will be the Dynamics, Propulsion and Thermal Sector and the Electric, Electronics, Safety & Interior Sector. Delphi also will create a special unit within the company, the Automotive Holdings Group, made up of non-core product lines, joint ventures and plant sites that do not meet the company's targets for growth, strategic fit, profitability and other financial measures. As part of Delphi Energy & Chassis, the brake hose and mount product lines will fall under the first sector, but whether or not they will be part of the non-core group has not been announced, said Dennis Bingham, president of United Steelworkers of America Local 87.
