AKRON (Oct. 18)—Goodyear Engineered Products has plans to build an automotive rubber hose plant in northern Mexico to strengthen its market position and better serve the automotive industry, a company release said. Construction of the facility at Delicias, Mexico, in the state of Chihuahua, will begin immediately, with production scheduled to start by mid-year 2003 and employment anticipated to reach 225 workers by 2004. Cost of the plant was undisclosed. Tim Toppen, president of Goodyear Engineered Products, said the plant would increase the company's competitiveness and ability to grow market share by combining best-in-class process and product technology with lower-cost manufacturing.
