LAKEVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 25)—Hoosier Performance Tire is discontinuing its street tire program due to dwindling margins and a general tire line contraction in the industry. Introduced in 1999, the Hoosier Performance Tire brand was positioned to bring Hoosier´s 40-plus years of racing heritage to the performance street tire aftermarket. The company said it "had to face the facts" that showed it was not achieving the market penetration needed to maintain the program. It said its distributors and corporate office staff "did everything possible to keep the brand alive, but we had to move on." Goodyear, which manufactures the Hoosier street tire, will assume all control of remaining inventory and will continue to honor the limited warranty on all existing tires.
