SAINT LAURENT DU PONT, France (Sept. 25)—Multibase S.A., a Dow Corning Corp. subsidiary, has introduced a new category of high-performance thermoplastic elastomers that are suited for applications where alternative TPEs cannot perform, the company said. The new thermoplastic silicone vulcanizates are marketed under the TPSiV brand name. The materials will be manufactured from the firm's Multibase Inc. facility in Copley, Ohio, and will combine the high-temperature elastomeric performance of silicone rubber with the melt reprocessability and chemical resistance of engineering thermoplastics. Multibase has launched four grades of the product that can be used in seal and gaskets, industrial hoses, grips and handles, and electrical and domestic applications.
