PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (Sept. 24)—Harvey Brodsky, managing director of the Tire Retread Information Bureau, has written an open letter to tire publications defending himself against those he says are accusing him of conflict of interest over his prospective bid for Israeli tire maker Alliance Tire Co. (1992) Ltd. "My involvement with TRIB and my duties as TRIB's managing director will absolutely not be compromised," he said in the letter. Brodsky, who has headed TRIB since 1982, has invested in and consulted for the new tire industry for more than 20 years, but said he always has avoided investment and consulting work in the retread industry.
