RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Sept. 23)—Oct. 14 is the date the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has set to hear arguments by Bridgestone/Firestone and its parent company, Bridgestone Corp., for dismissal of a class action suit concerning Firestone Steeltex tires. The claims filed by Pasadena attorney Joseph Lisoni and others under California statutes are pre-empted by federal law, and also don't adequately allege personal and property damage, the tire makers claim among other things. BFS and Bridgestone recently had the case moved to federal court from California Superior Court.
