AKRON (Sept.18)—Goodyear will increase prices on its conveyor belting 3 to 4.5 percent effective Oct. 1 because of escalating raw material prices, the company said in an Aug. 30 letter to distributors. "While important advances in product technology and cost containment have been made, raw material costs continue to escalate above the level that can no longer be absorbed," the firm said. Goodyear's move follows a 3.5 to 6 percent increase announced Sept. 1 by Scandura Conveyor Belting and Georgia Duck Inc.'s 3 to 5 percent increase effective Sept. 20.
