PLYMOUTH, Mich. (Sept. 3)—Freudenberg-NOK G.P. has developed a family of high-performance synthetic elastomers that are 100-percent solid and liquid injectable. The materials, which include liquid fluoroelastomers, EPDM, nitriles and polyisoprenes, are meant to compete with liquid-injectable silicone which has cornered the LIM market for more than 20 years, said Joseph Walker, who heads up material development for the manufacturer. Freudenberg-NOK is in the sampling phase for the new materials with selected key customers in the coatings and electronics industries, he said.
