MIDLAND, Mich. (Aug. 28)—Dow Chemical Co.´s Dow Polyurethanes unit has put its toluene diisocyanate supply in North America and Pacific on order control until further notice because of a tight supply caused by an equipment failure that caused the company to shut down its Freeport, Texas, TDI line. "We are working very hard to resolve the equipment issue at the Freeport site and will do everything possible to minimize the effect this will have on our customers," said Marco Levi, Dow Polyurethanes global business director, flexibles. After the line is back in service, Dow will continue to service TDI customers on an order-controlled basis throughout the rest of the year. TDI is a raw material Dow supplies to the flexible polyurethane foam market.
