PolyOne Corp. is looking to expand its latex compounding and intermediates business east of the Rockies.
The Cleveland-based company may open a latex compounding plant in that area because of recent business improvements, according to Mark Tindell, business manager for latex compounding and intermediates.
``We're putting in technology to support that possibility,'' he said at the International Latex Conference, where PolyOne was exhibiting its products.
The firm currently has a compounding plant in Los Angeles, he said. ``We also have an intermediates plant in Massillon, Ohio, which could end up being an expansion possibility.''
PolyOne has experienced a lot of growth on the latex compounding and intermediates side of the business, Tindell said. And he anticipates that will continue.
No timetable has been set to determine what course of action the firm will take to enlarge its base, Tindell said. ``We're just investigating the opportunities to see where they lead us,'' he said.
PolyOne was formed when compounder/resin distributor M.A. Hanna Co. and compounder Geon Co. merged in 2000.
