AKRON (Aug. 8)—Three styrene-butadiene rubber producers, blaming increasing monomer costs and narrowing profit margins, raised prices in early August for the third time this year. In letters to their customers, Goodyear, DSM Copolymer Inc. and Ameripol Synpol Corp. announced increases of 5 cents a pound on non-pigment, clear SBR, and 4 cents on oil-extended SBR. Ameripol Synpol and DSM Copolymer also boosted prices 4 cents per pound for black masterbatch.
