CONCORD, Ontario (Aug. 6)—Decoma International Inc. posted net income of $27.4 million during the second quarter, up nearly 19 percent from year-earlier earnings. The exterior trim and body sealing producer's sales also rose, climbing 17 percent to $565.8 million. By comparison, vehicle production volumes were up only 7 percent in North America and 4 percent in Europe during the quarter, Decoma said. Operating income rose to $54.8 million from $46.2 million during 2001's second quarter. The results reflect Decoma's continued emphasis on operating efficiency, capital management and new business awards, said Alan Power, Decoma CEO and president.
