AKRON (Aug. 1)—Amerityre Corp. and KIK Technology International Inc., purveyors of polyurethane technology for flat-free tires, both are looking for business on the links. Amerityre is launching a flat-free PU tire for electric golf carts, while KIK is going after the pull cart segment with a larger tire/wheel assembly that promises less rolling resistance. Boulder City, Nev.-based Amerityre hopes its flat-free design will be seen as an alternative to filled pneumatic tires. The design also will be adapted for the drive tires on riding law mowers. Oceanside, Calif.-based KIK is going after a new niche—20-inch diameter tires for "hi-wheeler"pull carts that offer less rolling and pull resistance. KIK claims its PU tires offer greater durability and less damage to areas around greens and tees.
