WASHINGTON (July 30)—The two leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have sent a letter to Jeffrey Runge, administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, supporting the Rubber Manufacturers Association´s petition for a mandated reserve inflation pressure for tires. Without a reserve pressure rule, "the tires on many vehicles could be operated outside the load/inflation conditions for which they were designed," said Reps. Billy Tauzin, R-La., and Edward Markey, D-Mass.
