WASHINGTON (July 10)—Anne S. Evans, president of TYRES 2000 Ltd. in Hebron, Conn., is one of 10 U.S. businesspeople who is spending July 8-15 in Italy and Spain on a trade mission sponsored by the Commerce Department. Evans hopes to establish a Spanish market for her U.S.-made private brand tires, and also plans to attend the Global Summit of Women 2002 in Barcelona, Spain. Besides marketing private brand tires, TYRES 2000 also developed a method of scrap tire collection and disposal that the United Kingdom established as an industry standard, according to a Commerce Department release. The department designed the trade mission for minority- and women-owned businesses to explore export opportunities in Europe.
