ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (July 3)—Unique Fabricating Inc. plans by mid-2003 to consolidate its four Michigan plants into a newly constructed 150,000-sq.-ft. building in nearby Auburn Hills, Mich. The move will eliminate duplicated plant and administrative functions, Unique President Doug Stahl said without giving the number of employees who will be affected. It also will improve communications and save Unique the trouble of consolidating customer parts from its Michigan facilities and Georgia plant to one location prior to shipment. After purchasing the assets of R/O Manufacturing Inc. last fall, Unique rolled operations from the company's two Auburn Hills plants into its own operations. The former R/O plants are for sale or lease, Stahl said.
