WASHINGTON (June 6)—Honeywell International Inc.'s Korean patent on high-tenacity polyester tire cord yarn is invalid, meaning Hyosung Corp. may continue to manufacture the cord, the International Trade Commission has ruled. Honeywell filed a petition with the ITC in May 2001, claiming Hyosung was violating the Morristown, N.J., firm's tire cord patent. An ITC investigative attorney supported Hyosung's petition for summary judgment in December 2001, but an ITC administrative law judge ruled in Honeywell's favor. The full commission overturned the ALJ's ruling.
