MOGADORE, Ohio (June 4)—RohmNova, the joint venture between Rohm and Haas Co. and Omnova Solutions Inc., will raise prices July 1 for emulsion polymers for the paper and paperboard market. All polystyrene, styrene butadiene and styrene butadiene acrylonitrile polymers, vinyl acetate homopolymers and vinyl acrylic polymers will climb by 3 cents per dry pounds. The prices for styrene acrylic and acrylic polymers, and hollow sphere pigments will climb by 5 to 8 percent. RohmNova blamed the price hikes on continued escalation in chemical feedstock costs for styrene, butadiene, acrylic and vinyl acetate monomers.
