ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 29)—Retreader Bauer Built Inc. has paid $193,000 to settle an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suit brought by a former employee who claimed racial harassment. Albert Daniels, a black tire changer at Bauer Built's St. Paul operation, said that in July 1999 he was harassed by a supervisor and co-workers who hung a noose in an office and tried to put it over his head. Contacted in his office in Durand, Wis., company President Jerry Bauer declined comment on the case.
