VICKSBURG, Miss. (May 17)—A late-night explosion and fire at the Rouse Polymerics International Inc. plant in Vicksburg injured 11 workers at the facility, six of them critically. Vicksburg Fire Department spokesmen were on site at the facility and couldn't be reached for comment, but the Associated Press reported employees had run from the factory with their clothes on fire; the worst injured were airlifted to a burn center; and part of the building had collapsed.
