LAKE MARY, Fla. (May 15)—BarrierMed Inc. said it has acquired a Tampa, Fla., medical packaging company for an undisclosed amount. While details are sketchy, the manufacturer of high-tech latex-free surgical and examination gloves will transfer the operation, called Medical Packaging Systems Inc., to its Lake Mary facility. The companies did not say when that move will occur. BarrierMed has the machinery and wherewithal to make the packaging kit, said Victor Ragucci, founder and CEO of BarrierMed, and the acquisition significantly expands its operation. The company is expected to meet with Johnson & Johnson Inc. soon to discuss the possibility of the Lake Mary manufacturer handling medical packaging production for Johnson & Johnson, Ragucci said.
