DEERFIELD, Ill. (May 13)—American Chemet Corp. will expand its cuprous oxide capacity with a $5.9 million expansion at its East Helena, Mont., plant. Scheduled to come online by the end of 2003, the project will boost capacity for cuprous oxide by 100 percent. The company expects pending changes in environmental regulations will move several key industries toward more environmentally friendly alternatives. American Chemet supplies cuprous oxide for anti-fouling coatings used in the maritime industry to better fuel efficiency of ocean going vessels.
