PARIS, Tenn. (May 1)—Dana Corp. has consolidated its Dover, Ohio, plastic extrusion lines into a former mixing plant at its Plumley rubber product operation in Paris. The streamlining move will better position Dana to focus on future technology and innovative products through the integration of the rubber and plastic extrusion technologies, said Philippe Jean, vice president and general manager. The plastic extrusions plant will produce both mono- and multi-layer plastic fuel tubing, underground fuel vapor pipe and hose mandrel, and will be managed with the rubber extrusion operations. To stay with emerging product trends, Dana began extruding multi-layer plastic tubing about five years ago for General Motors Corp. and a number of tank manufacturers. The parts maker continues to use Plumley to gain business with Japanese transplant original equipment manufacturers, which still are using rubber and metal hose.
