WASHINGTON (May 1)—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has granted the Rubber Manufacturers Association's petition to extend by 30 days the deadline to submit comments on the agency´s proposed new tire safety standard. The new deadline is June 5. The RMA wanted the extra time to complete high-speed and endurance testing on nearly 200 tires to obtain the data it needed for its comments, according to Ann Wilson, RMA vice president of government affairs.
