TOKYO (April 15)—Synthetic rubber producer JSR Corp. has agreed to make emulsion styrene butadiene rubber under contract for Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd., which recently decided to cease output of emulsion SBR at its Chiba, Japan, complex. Under the toll manufacturing arrangement, which is scheduled to begin in October, Sumitomo will supply styrene and butadiene monomers for the manufacture of emulsion SBR to JSR's Yokkaichi facility. The two companies currently produce butadiene under a 50/50 joint venture, Tobu Butadiene Co. Ltd. Sumitomo's Chiba plant is listed at 50,000 metric tons per year.
