TRELLEBORG, Sweden (April 2)—Trelleborg A.B. has agreed to sell its molded goods operation in Skelton, England, to Italy's Industrie Ilpea S.p.A. for an undisclosed price. The Skelton operation makes molded goods primarily for the British household appliances industry. The 60-employee company had sales of $4.5 million last year. Trelleborg said the Skelton unit had "adversely affected" its group earnings the past few years. Ilpea, based in Malgesso, Italy, operates 25 plants in Europe, South America and the U.S. and reports annual sales of $250 million to $270 million. It bought the U.S. plants, in Fort Smith, Ark., and Evansville, Ind., from GenCorp Inc. in 1998. For Trelleborg, the sale reflects its continuing efforts to streamline its portfolio and concentrate on its vehicle supply business.
