LEVERKUSEN, Germany (March 25)—Bayer A.G. is acquiring the polyurethane activities of Tectrade A/S of Vedbaek, Denmark, strengthening its PU presence in Scandinavia. The acquisition includes a technical center in Otterup and a formulating plant in Randers. Tectrade has been active in developing customized PU formulations since 1987, Bayer said. Tectrade focuses on rigid polyurethane systems for thermal insulation marketed under the Tecfoam name, but also formulations for solid polyurethane moldings, sandwich materials, integral skin foams, adhesive, sealant and elastomer applications and cold-cure moldings. The deal is expected to close March 31. The companies did not disclose financial details of the transaction, nor of Tectrade's business.
