MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (March 25)—Crompton Corp.'s Urethane Technology Group is now operating within the group's OSi Specialties division, and the company is evaluating cross-selling opportunities between the urethanes and specialty products business. The transfer of the urethanes business from Crompton's Petroleum Additives and Refined Products division took place in August but was not widely announced at the time, a company spokeswoman said. OSi includes urethane additives such as silicone surfactants and catalysts, among its offerings. UTG supplies liquid cast urethane prepolymers, polyester polyols used in polyurethane foams and other specialty urethane products. "With this combination of businesses we bring together a powerful portfolio of specialty products and a great wealth of talent," Mary Gum, OSi executive vice president, said in a staff newsletter. "Over the next several months, we will be working to determine what technical and market synergies exist between the Urethane Technology Group and the OSi Specialties business."
