AKRON—Goodyear has hired a new head of public relations and appointed four to various marketing jobs.
The company named Robert J. O´Leary senior vice president of global communications, replacing John Perduyn, who retired late last year. O´Leary, 51, will be responsible for developing and executing a global communications strategy and leading Goodyear´s communications team, the company said.
O´Leary—who will report directly to Samir G. Gibara, Goodyear chairman and CEO—brings public relations and advertising experience from several companies, including Mobil Corp., Bacardi Ltd., IBM, Unisys Corp. and United Technologies Corp.
Among the marketing appointments, Sanjay Sivanandan was hired as marketing director for Asia. He brings to Goodyear 12 years of experience in consumer product purchasing, sales and marketing in Europe and Asia. He joins Goodyear from Mars Inc., where he was market development director for operations in India.
Also in India, Roger A. Hagstrom was named sales director for the Asia Region. He has held diverse domestic and international operating positions for Goodyear.
Jeanne B. Sherman was hired as director of global marketing services. She has 20 years of experience in sales, marketing strategy, brand management, global advertising and product promotion. She comes to Goodyear from Payless Shoesource, having worked previously at Kraft/General Foods and several other firms.
Bob Herbolich was appointed general sales and marketing manager responsible for expanding Goodyear´s industrial and automotive rubber products business.
He had a 31-year career with General Electric Co., and comes to Goodyear from U.S. Office Products´ office supplies division.
