GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 21)—Michelin North America Inc.'s Michelin brand garnered the highest results in the heavy-duty truck tire category of a study conducted by J.D. Power and Associates recently. As part of 2001 Heavy-Duty Truck Customer Satisfaction Study, J.D. Power interviewed 2,814 purchasers of 1999 Class 8 trucks, asking them to rank tire performance in four key areas: wearability, overall tire safety, tire value and overall satisfaction with the original equipment brand, according to the tire maker. Although no award was given, Michelin came out on top for tire value, wearability/tread life and overall satisfaction. It was the first time J.D. Power addressed heavy-duty trucks in its annual survey.
