FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 13)—Otis "Harry" McCollum, longtime DuPont Co. employee who retired as national accounts manager of its Elastomer Chemicals Dept. in 1977, died March 11 in Fort Myers. He was 85. After graduating from Cornell University, McCollum worked for Firestone in Bombay, India, during World War II. He moved to DuPont following the war, and served there for 32 years. McCollum, well known in the rubber industry during his career, was called the "wise old owl" by his friends, and was noted for his dry humor. Suffering from a hearing problem after retiring, he joined the Self Help for the Hearing Impaired, becoming the Florida state coordinator for the group.
