PTTSBURGH, Pa. (March 7)—Bayer Corp.'s Polyurethanes Division has increased prices for its Mondur toluene diisocyanate products by 15 cents a pound and its Multranol, Arcol, Ultracel and Stylex polyol offerings by 10 cents per pound. The hikes went into effect March 1. The products are used for slabstock and automotive seating applications made of flexible polyurethane foam. During the last 15 months, Bayer's polyurethanes business margins have eroded to historical lows, according to Lawrence D. Stern, president, Polyurethanes-NAFTA, and executive vice president of Bayer. The price increases will help "restore margins to an acceptable level," he said.
