CARY, N.C. (March 1)—Lord Corp.'s Mechanical Products Division and Japan's Fukoku Co. Ltd. have formed an alliance to expand their markets and geographic offerings and build on each other's strengths. Under the pact, the companies will share facilities, corporate knowledge and technology. As part of the deal, Fukoku will manufacture two of Lord's patented technologies—Surface Effect and torsion dampers for the furniture market—while Lord will make Fukoku's viscous mount used in off-highway construction equipment. Fukoku offers products similar to Lord's, including a number of anti-vibration offerings for automobiles, rubber buffers, engine mounts, railroad track tie pads, torsional vibration dampers, couplings, cabin mounts and other anti-vibration and noise insulation rubber parts for construction, civil engineering and industry machinery. Lord, well known for its rubber-to-metal isolators, makes a wide range of products for a variety of industries.
