FRANKFURT, Germany (March 1)—Otis Elevator Co. has been awarded contracts to install elevator systems in two high-rise tower projects that will use Gen2 elevator technology. The Gen2 system includes a machine-roomless elevator utilizing flat, urethane-coated steel belts instead of steel cables. Contracts for the projects—the Investment Banking Center headquarters of Deutsche Bank and the Westhafen Tower—are worth a combined $8 million and will be completed in 2003.
