ROCK PORT, Mo. (Feb. 26)—A fire-gutted Nebraska tire recycler may purchase a closed meatpacking plant across the river in Missouri and resume operations there. EnTire Recycling Inc., whose Nebraska City headquarters was severely damaged by a fire that burned from Jan. 23 to Feb. 3, is in negotiations to buy the Excel Corp. facility near Rock Port that has been shuttered since 1992. Jack Kelly, owner of the closed factory, said he and EnTire President Jim Gerking are "working out a deal" for the plant. But Kelly deferred further comment to Gerking, who was unavailable.
