PolyOne Corp.´s Italian joint venture partner So.F.teR has introduced a range of non-polyvinyl chloride compounds for synthetic leather applications. The new environmentally friendly compounds—thermoplastic elastomer-vulcanized Forprene 6LH TPE-V and thermoplastic elastomer SEBS-based Bergaflex 83LH—display good ultraviolet resistance, low fogging, heat resistance, thermoformability, grain retention and abrasion resistance. Produced in calendered and T-die extrusion sheets, Forprene 6LH and Bergaflex 83LH offer low density, making goods up to 30 percent lighter than traditional materials, the firm said.
