MILAN, Italy (Jan. 3)—Eni S.p.A. has transferred EniChem's main businesses—olefins and aromatics, styrenics and elastomers—into the group's polyethylene subsidiary Polimeri Europa. The move comes amid a bid by SABIC (Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp.) to acquire control of these operations. Emulsion styrene-butadiene, butadiene and ethylene-propylene rubbers are among a range of polymer and petrochemical products added to Polimeri Europa's portfolio following the restructure, which took place Jan. 1. Polimeri Europa will better manage research and development, production, sales and marketing of products sold under EniChem's trademarks, EniChem President Fabrizio d'Adda said in a company statement.
