ATLANTA (Dec. 28)—Imerys Pigments and Additives Group will raise prices of its North American ground calcium carbonate products between 3 and 8 percent effective Feb. 1. The size of the price hikes will vary by product. The increases are needed to offset mounting costs, primarily for labor, benefits chemicals and environmental compliance, according to the large producer of white industrial minerals for the paper, polymer, ceramics coatings and other industries. Imerys had sales in the $2.5 billion range in 2000.
